I bumped the stairs up to 30 min. at a time and I'm still doing that....and practicing my belly dance (of course). Can't wait till the next class cause my mom and I (my mom more than me) have made a hip scarf. It'll be cool to have one!
I ran yesterday - only about 17 min. - cause it was cold and windy. I tried to run today but only made it up the drive and back - about 5 min. The wind cut right through my clothes - burrrrrrrrrr. It also took my breath so it was hard to keep breathing. I came straight in!
Gonna go do my yoga.

Speaking of up, tonight I'm doing stairs; normally I do 25 min., tonight I'm gonna bump it up to 30 min.

yesterday, today and tomorrow
Yesterday was a rainy yuck day. I ended up doing aerobics with the tape. That was good - I did something. Yesterday morning though got me inspired for what I'm gonna do tomorrow!
Today I'll be doing my yoga video.
Tomorrow? Well yesterday I watched "Workout With the Stars" and they we're belly dancing. It looked like so much fun that I had to try it. I got online and looked up the show, but they weren't selling any tapes, so I looked up classes. I found one near me and the first beginners class begins tomorrow! I'm so excited!!!!!!

I'm very excited that yesterday I ran for 20 min. I don't have mileage laid out here at our new home very well, and I read somewhere that's after 40 it's best to time your runs instead of counting mileage. That will be hard to get used to.
I also did my yoga tape yestereday.
This morning I watched a belly dance work out on TV - so now I'm interested in belly dance? It looks fun. I've found a class in Murfreesboro and have sent an e-mail for more info - worth checking into. The thing I watched on TV comes on again in Feb. I'm gonna have my mom tape it for me. That way if the class doesn't pan out I'll at least have something to try.

WOW! I can't believe it's been soooooooooo long since I've made an entry here! I have continued to stay active, but not as active as I was due to time constraints but I want to get fit again.
Since my last entry we have bought a house - something we were all very excited about but at the same time sad to leave the old place. And running here just isn't the same. I do believe that going up and down this drive is what brought on my bout with bursitis (hip). I went to the doc, who ended up sending me to a physical thearpist. That really seemed to help. After I stopped going though I lost interest in continuing my excerise. Then I had a surprise visit from a friend, who brought with her one of her friends. After talking some I found out the woman who was with my friend knew rekiei. She did a short treatment on my hip and it has helped. Not only physically but I am now motivitated to continue my "get fit and stay fit" journey!
Since they left, I've started meditating again, doing stairs, I've choosed to do this instead of fighting the cold and dark (since I get off work so late). I've also taken up yoga. It's on a tape. I can't seem to find any classes around here. I also work out with an areobics tape. And I run on the weekends. After watching a show on staying active and aging I FINALLY do realize the importance of mixing up your workout - espically for "mature" adults. ;-)

Lots and Lots of Pain.
Sat; two days ago; I played in a softball tourney. A round robin....4 games. I caught all four games. Nobody else wanted to catch. A co-worker says I shoulda said, "OK, I'm not catching this time." Yep, that's what I shoulda done cause now I'm in so much pain. My rignt leg is still in knots.
I tried to run on Sun. Boy was that a joke.
Sunday evening and yesterday evening I tried to practice jingling....that two is a joke. Hubby makes fun and says I need to dance in cloth....senior division. (Ain't he funny.)
I wouldn't mind the pain so bad, but we sucked. All 4 games we sucked. Plus it was bad to watch the other girls suck while I was behind the plate.
I'll try to run and dance this evening. Last night I took a pain pill. I was able to relax and sleep but this morning my leg is still knotted up. I need a muscle relaxer. I'll put heat on it today to see if that helps.

....but I'm still at it! I've worked up to 2 miles; although I'm running abit slower. But I've worked in that big ass hill, so I think it probably evens out. The last time I timed a mile and a mile only I ran it at just under 9 min. (8:57 if I remember correctly) I was sooooo proud. After that was when I started trying to push the mileage. So I'm gonna run 2 miles for about another week or so then try to push the time back up a bit.
I'm still planning on doing the run at Maryville and visiting Sister Air. But I may be thinking a bit more realisticly about the 1/2 marathon; I may wait till next year to try it.

I timed my mile this morning and again I am pleasantly surprised.
I'm still running at the same rate I did when I quit last year. I think that is so cool!
Last night while looking through one of my running mags I saw a 5k race in Maryville. It's sometime in Aug. I'm gonna look it up today on the net to get some more details. I'd like to do it if anyway possible. It'll be good training for the 1/2 in Oct. Plus it will be a good excuse to visit with Sister Air.
Oh, I did just over a mile this morning, the time was just for a mile.

OK, the doc gave me the green light. No restrictions! ;-)
Our trip got postponed....vehicle problems. But we are planning on doing it up right next year. AND! They have a 5k race so I can run in that!
I hit the road this morning and was pleasantly surprised a I did a mile pretty easily. That's really good! Espically since I'm planning on doing the our town's 1/2 marathon in Oct. I'm very excited about that.

Since my last entry....I had worked up to 1 1/4 mile.
Then I ran into some health issues and had to have out patient surgery. That was two weeks ago today. It will be another two weeks before they release me to run. I've been fighting bouts of depression over it - plus the weight gain is a problem. It makes me feel so bad - and depressed. I have decided to try some diet pills - just for the remaining two weeks until I can run again.
When I go for my check up and they release me to excerise, it'll still a few more days after that before I will actually start running again, as were going on a short vacation - to Oklahoma, for the Creek Festival. That should be fun - and educational.

I go by the name Ocalee and running is my chosen form of excerise. I started my running program in the spring of 2003. I had been training to run in the Music City 1/2 Marathon, but after a family trama I stopped running for about a week (during Feb. 2004) and had a hard time getting back on a running scheldue.
I have always been physically active and involved in sports. But as I got older, married and became a mother my time had more and more constraints put on it, which has lead to my running. Running is something I really enjoy. Not only does it allow me to stay in shape, but it gives me time to myself; time to meditate and enjoy nature. As an outdoor runner I get to enjoy all that Mother Nature has to offer. I watch as she awakens in the spring, showering herself in colors. I feel the heat in the summer as she bask in the sun. Fall brings about cool changes and warm colors while in the winter she sleeps under frozen blankets. This is my journal of random thoughts and observations that I make while running. From time to time other sports or workout related topics may show up. Should you be so inclined you my also visit my other blogs:

Work hard, keep your standards high, and never settle for anything less than you are capable of achieving. (unknown)
